Job Purpose

The Risk Analyst will support the identification, measurement, monitoring, and reporting of market risk, liquidity risk, and strategic risk in line with the Bank’s risk appetite, regulatory requirements, and strategic objectives.

The role ensures effective protection of the Bank against adverse movements in foreign exchange, interest rates, liquidity exposures, and strategic execution risks, while supporting informed decision-making by Senior Management and the Board. Lubumbashi and Kinshasa.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Monitor and report foreign exchange (FX) and Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book (IRRBB) exposures by tracking daily market risk indicators such as open FX positions and interest rate sensitivities.

  • Conduct regular stress testing and scenario analysis to assess the impact of currency shocks and interest rate movements while ensuring exposures remain within internal limits and regulatory thresholds.

  • Analyse macroeconomic trends and evaluate their potential impact on the Bank’s balance sheet and overall risk profile.

  • Monitor short-term and structural liquidity positions by analysing maturity mismatches, funding gaps, and funding concentration levels, including the Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR).

  • Conduct regular liquidity stress testing to assess the impact of deposit withdrawals and market disruptions, ensuring resilience under adverse conditions.

  • Support the development, implementation, and periodic review of the Contingency Funding Plan (CFP) to ensure timely response to potential liquidity stress events.

  • Support the identification and assessment of strategic risks arising from market competition, regulatory changes, and business model shifts, including participation in risk assessments for new products and strategic initiatives.

  • Monitor execution risks against strategic objectives and provide timely risk insights and recommendations to Senior Management and the Board Risk Committee.

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly risk reports for Senior Management and the Board Risk Committee, supported by clear dashboards and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) covering Market, Liquidity, and Strategic risks.

  • Provide forward‑looking risk insights and early warning indicators to support proactive decision‑making and effective risk oversight.

  • Support development and review of Market, Liquidity, and Strategic Risk policies.

  • Ensure compliance with Central Bank regulations and Basel III requirements.

  • Maintain and enhance risk models, monitoring tools, and analytical spreadsheets while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of risk data and reporting through effective controls and validation.

  • Support the automation and continuous improvement of risk reporting systems and accurately set up and manage trade deals in the Calypso Treasury Management System.

  • Collaborate closely with Treasury (Front and Back Office), Finance, and Business Units to ensure effective risk coordination and information flow.

  • Provide risk advisory input to support sound business decisions and the development of new products and initiatives.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.

  • Professional certifications such as FRM, PRM, or CFA are an added advantage.

  • Two (2) to five (5) years of experience in Risk Management, Treasury, or Financial Analysis.

  • Banking experience is strongly preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of Market, Liquidity, and Interest Rate Risk concepts, including Basel III and regulatory frameworks.

  • Proficiency in risk analysis tools, financial modelling, and advanced Excel or similar analytical software.

  • Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills with the ability to present risk insights to Senior Management and Committees.
